Soccer has begun!!!

The kids are both playing soccer this spring and they have loved it!
It is hilarious to watch Miaja chat with her friends at the goal posts
and see Chase and his friends picking flowers on the soccer field
as the ball passes by!
I always look forward to their games.

fancy and friends....

Fancy "Miaja" and Friends!!!

Appropriately so, Miaja had a Fancy Nancy birthday party and things actually went fairly smooth. Miaja and her friends had a blast and the only down-side was I forgot to get a picture of the girls after they had been all fancied-up. They looked "fabulous"! We did everything from a "Manicure Salon" to "Hair Salon"! Chase and Ayden had to get their neighbor friend to come play with them because it was just a bit too "girly" for them! One of Miaja's little friends said to me as she left, "Miss Christy...can we do this every Saturday"! I love a good party but those little girls wore me out!

I had to add a picture of Miaja with her "birthday cupcakes". She was SOOOOOO excited to take these to school. Miaja LOVES ice-cream so we found this fun recipe for cupcakes that are baked in the ice-cream cone! It was fun amking them together! Aren't birthdays fun!

Post-Birthday Picts...

So for part of Miaja's birthday I have been working on her room. I refinished a bookcase (turning it into a bookcase/doll house), I sanded and repainted this cool shelf and found a great deal on craigslist for this really cute desk! I LOVE fixing-up things that look old and useless and making them beautiful (atleast in my eyes and my six year olds)! So the night before Miaja's birthday she slept in by the boys and I painted, drilled and decorated! I must say that seeing Miaja's face the next day made this very tired, pregnant mommy feel really good!

Camp-out..."Winter" 2009

It was hard for me to wrap my head around the idea of camping in March but we did...and it was GREAT! Camping in Texas is slightly different but it felt soooo good to get away and we got to go with a couple of fun families so it we had an awesome time! I don't know what the kids liked better...night-time campfire stories told by Ryan Green or swinging the hammock the daddy put up in the tree. Maybe it was the gooey smores...Either way they were asking when we got to go back! Our kids have always been "pros" at camping! Jer and I are grateful for that. (I was just grateful that there was not a wild boar sighting!!!)

YEE_HAW!!!

I have gotten behind on my pictures so here are a few... A few weeks ago we got to experience a Texan Rodeo with some neighbors!! It's was actually a blast!!! We even got to watch a pig race...I didn't even know that those existed but bot do they ever! The kids were in heaven with all the animals although I think Miaja has a bit of my mom in her because when I asked her what her favorite part was she told me, "It was all those free samples that we got!" Some things are certainly genetic and that is one of them! We wished we had enough money (and time) to go to the Taylor Swift concert but hey...we'll be here for a few years so we shall see!

Happy Birthday Miaja!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIAJA!!! She officially turns 6 yrs. old at 12'06am but hopefully I won't be awake then.

I cannot believe that six years have gone by. At the same time I cannot imagine how I lived without Miaja before she came into our lives. She is my little helper, (she remembers everything that I forget). She is a wonderful big sis. She is an exceptional student, (I can already tell that she'll pass me up in the math department quickly), and most important she has a very tender and thoughtful spirit that wants everyone to feel good and wants everyone to be included. I love MIaja. She has made the last six years a blast and I look forward to seeing what next year will bring.
A couple of MIaja's favorite things are dolls, art and ice-cream!!!
Happy Birthday little lady.
love, mom

An FHE to remember...

So last night STARTED-OFF pretty normal. Jer went into work around 5pm...kids were playing and I made dinner. While I was cooking I guess Chase threw some wood chips in Miaja's eyes (unintentionally...of course), and she came running in telling me she couldn't see and her eyes and face were bright red. After a bath and some TLC she looked better but still had really red eyes and could barely open them BUT the kids always love FHE so we continued as always. Not too much later I could tell that Miaja just needed to lie-down so everyone started upstairs for bedtime. I was changing Ayden when all of the sudden I heard a huge thud and then a cry only Chase can manage. He came around the corner with blood running down his head and onto his face. I didn't even want to look at the cut but I realized I needed to so I got Chase calmed down (aka I had to hold him down) and cleaned off the cut. It wasn't as bad as the blood made it look but it was still bad. Jer finally was able to call me back and he told me to bring him into the hospital and he would "staple" the cut while we waited in the parking lot. Luckily our awsome neighbor who works with Jer in the ER drove up just as I was pulling out and he ended-up stapling Chase's head at their house.
It was such a traumatic night. I was sure that Thomas was going to decided to come to top things off. I was grateful for our awesome neighbors. That will certainly not be forgotten any time soon.
